Off-trade volume sales of RTDs bounced back in 2019 after a near double-digit decline in 2018. In large part, the rebound was due to the excise tax rise on alcoholic drinks being reduced in July 2019, a move by the government that kept consumers from crossing the border into Latvia to buy cheaper alcoholic drinks there. At the same time, the renewed popularity of RTDs was reflected in on-trade volume sales which also increased, albeit not as robustly as off-trade volume sales.
