The North America Recirculating Chillers Market would witness market growth of 4.4% CAGR during the forecast period (2020-2026).
Recirculating chillers are used for several cooling applications. They have a supply of temperature-controlled fluid, usually water, which eliminates heat from the process. This heat is transported back to the refrigerator where it is transferred to the refrigerant gas. Like most electrical products, chillers also produce their own heat from the fan motor, compressor, pump and electronics. When the heat energy is transferred, it depends on the type of refrigerator used or, more specifically, whether the chiller uses an air-cooled or water-cooled condenser.
In the case of an air-cooled chiller, the electrical energy used by the chiller is converted to heat and applied to the room where the chiller is stored. The heat load from the application (process heat) is also discharged from the refrigerator condenser to the room. In the case of a water-cooled refrigerator, the process heat is removed from the condenser by a source of the facility water. The heat from the water diffusion pump and the compressor are both applied to this water. The remaining heat generated by the chiller is provided into the room, but is significantly less heat than the chiller.
In general, a chiller facilitates heat transfer from an in-house environment to an outside environment. This heat transfer device is based on a refrigerant’s physical state, as it circulates through the chiller system. Chillers could then function as the core of any central HVAC system. The air-cooled chillers rely on an air-cooled condenser. Air-cooled chillers can find common application in smaller or medium sized installations where space restrictions may exist. In scenarios where water is a scarce resource, an air-cooled chiller could represent the most practical choice.
