The North America Vein Illuminator Market would witness market growth of 30.3% CAGR during the forecast period (2020-2026).
Ultrasound uses soundwaves to aid the technician in the imaging of venous structures and surrounding tissues on a screen. The sensor emits a quick pulse of sound through the body, and the pulse reflection is sensed to map the deeper structures. A new version of the ultrasound that measures blood flow is called Doppler Ultrasound since it can detect blood flow from an object’s reflected wave frequency change. Ultrasound is often used for deeper veins 6 mm or more of the skin during vein entry. Examples include the Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) and Peripheral IV Access Guided Ultrasound (USGPIV) lines.
The transillumination technique is based on using vivid, colorful LEDs that are positioned directly on the surface of the skin during a vein access procedure. When the light travels through the eye, some of the light is absorbed by deoxygenated blood. The result is a true representation not only of the location of the vein but also of the vein’s size and depth.
In addition to locating veins, they are often protected by transillumination to avoid spinning, allowing technicians to reach the vein successfully. It is effective for finding veins that are up to 6 mm deep. All devices are small and portable, making quick access and use possible. The basic handheld form factor requires only one technician to be used, with no formal training. It uses specific techniques to identify the veins correctly and to project its image on the skin. Using this device helps medical professionals minimize errors while identifying the point of puncture.
