A Turbine Generator is an Important Component of a Nuclear Reactor

Turbine generators are important equipment in a nuclear power plant, and the main components include high pressure turbines, low pressure turbines and a generator. Steam generated by steam generators is sent to the high-pressure turbines and then on to the low-pressure turbines. A shaft in the turbines is connected to the generator. This generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.

Both New Installations and Replacements Will Drive the Market

The turbine generator market is dependent on both new installations and replacements.

The Asia-Pacific region has seen major demand for new installations, as there are a number of planned and proposed reactors in countries such as India and China which will be commercialized in the next few years.

The North American market will mainly depend on both new installations and replacements. The market will be primarily driven by replacements until 2015 and new installations are expected in the period 2015 to 2020. The market in Canada will depend only on replacements as there are no upcoming plants in the country.

The European region will be driven by both new installations and replacements during the study period. Countries such as Russia have a number of upcoming plants which will create demand for new installations and other countries such as France, Ukraine and the UK will depend on replacements.

Nuclear Industry Expansion to Drive the Turbine Generator Market

Most countries across the world are expanding their existing nuclear infrastructure and some developing countries are investing in nuclear energy development to make it a prominent contributor to their energy mix. The growth of the nuclear industry will lead to a growth in the turbine generator market in the long term.

The majority of nuclear industry expansion will happen in the Asia-Pacific region and primarily in countries like China, India and Russia. The industry expansion is therefore one of the key driving forces for the growth of the nuclear turbine generators market.

Turbine Generator Market is Expected to Experience Good Growth in the Future

A turbine generator is installed in a nuclear reactor when a new plant is built, or as a replacement due to operational problems or when the previous turbine generator has reached its full life span.

The demand for turbine generators is set to rise in the future because of the large number of reactors that are currently planned, proposed or under construction, and which are expected to be commercialized in the next few years, in the Asia-Pacific region. Also, the replacements which are expected in North America and Europe are expected to drive the demand for turbine generators.
