The Brazil Armed Force is the largest Armed Force in Latin America an consists out of the Brazilian Army, the Brazilian Navy and the Brazilian Air Force. The total of active personnel is 305,000.

The country is interested in purchasing new armored vehicles and over the long-term in purchasing new conventional submarines and frigates. Next to that Brazil is interested in the purchase of a new transport and VIP aircraft; and acquiring new helicopters. Their armed forces were also involved with peacekeeping operations in Haiti and assisting the local police in resting control of local Favela shanty towns from illegal narcotics gangs.
Brazil is the largest country of Latin America. It’s the world fifth largest country with a population of over 192 million people. Brazil’s relationship with nuclear weapons continues to be nuanced although the country has renounced the development of chemical and biological weapons.

The Brazilian economy is the seventh largest by purchasing power parity and the sixth largest by nominal GDP. The country is one of the world’s fastest growing major economies. New international recognition is given to the country by economic reforms. The country is a founding member of the United Nations, the G20, CPLP, Latin Union, the Organization of Ibero-American States, the Organization of American States, Mercosul and the Union of South American Nations. Next to that Brazil is one of the BRIC countries and also one of the 17 Megadiverse countries.
