World Revenues For The Injection Devices - The Drug Delivery Technology Will Reach $5.9Bn in 2018

A new report, now available on ASDReports, assesses prospects for the top 19 companies in the pre-filled injectables technology market. Those revenue forecasts appear in Medical Device Leader Series: Top Pre-Filled Injection Device Manufacturers 2014-2024.

That investigation predicts sales to 2024 for leading companies and discusses their prospects. Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) leads that market, offering products across all segments of the pre-filled syringes industry: glass and polymer syringes, cartridges and components for pre-filled syringes, autoinjectors and self injectors, as well as safety systems. Another top performer is Gerresheimer. Organic growth, as well as expansion through acquisitions, enabled Gerresheimer to become the world’s second largest manufacturer of pre-filled syringe products.

Dr Bijal Thanki, a pharmaceutical industry analyst, said: “Pre-filled injectables form an expanding industry and market. With high demands for improved efficiency and safety, medical device developers and producers seek new drug delivery systems for injected medicines, especially biological drugs (biologics or biologicals). That product and services market experiences a shift from conventional vial and needle administrations to pre-filled syringes, benefiting safety and reducing costs.

“Rising incidence and prevalence of serious diseases, such as diabetes, neurodegenerative and autoimmune disorders, stimulate demand for pre-filled syringes, pen injectors and autoinjectors, as has the demand for at-home administration (home-based medicine). The emerging countries will achieve the largest sales growth over our forecast period, owing to increasing treatment of chronic diseases. India and China hold growing diabetic populations, leading to high demand for insulin pens. Many of the world’s leading pre-filled syringe and injection device manufacturers have also built manufacturing sites in developing countries. Also, some firms aligned themselves with pharmaceutical companies in those regions, to make pen injectors. Worldwide that industry holds great potential from 2014.”
