Capex on Desalination systems to total $3,917M in 2014
Global CAPEX on new desalination plants and expansion of existing facilities will stand at $3,917m by the end of 2014, according to the new report The Desalination Market Forecast 2014-2024: Future Prospects For Leading Companies. This will mark the return to growth of the industry after disappointing results in the past three years following the global economic slowdown, the Arab Spring revolutions and the round of capacity additions registered in the 2000s.

Riccardo Patrian, the lead analyst for this report commented “The fundamentals of the desalination market are solid, since demand for water is growing quickly for both municipal and industrial applications. CAPEX in the global market will return to its natural path of growth in 2014 after some turbulence in the recent past. Although this year the market will once again be led by CAPEX in the Middle East, the role of North Africa and South America will become increasingly important over the next five years”

The 196 page report contains 160 tables, graphs and charts that add visual understanding to the analysis of the desalination market, together with CAPEX forecasts for the 2014-2024 period for the global and regional markets, and for four crucial technology submarkets: reverse osmosis (RO), multi-effect distillation (MED), multi-stage flash (MSF), and electrodialysis (ED), electrodeionisation (EDI) and electrodialysis reversal (EDR) systems, plus a 10-year aggregated forecast for capital expenditure on hybrid plants and other desalination technologies.

The report also analyses and individually forecasts the value of the top-10 national markets for CAPEX (Chile, India, Iran, Israel, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, UAE, US) and assesses the outlook of 5 more countries (Algeria, Australia, China, Libya and Spain), together with the market position of the 5 largest EPC companies by revenues in the desalination market in 2013. The report also contains the full transcript of exclusive interviews with Richard White, Senior Vice-President at Biwater AEWT and with a senior manager of a leading EPC company.
