According to a recent research report, now available on ASDReports, there are approximately 4,100+ active pipelines and approximately 711 in planned state (including stalled pipelines). Majority of the pipelines are active and are being built for the movement of Natural Gas taking the total strength to 1,362,000+ kms. It is followed by Crude Oil and Petroleum Products, taking a share of 18.2% and 12.4% respectively in total global transmission pipeline length.
The key player recent publication “Global Oil and Gas Pipelines Industry Outlook to 2020 – Capacity and Capital Expenditure Forecasts with Details of All Operating and Planned Pipelines” provides comprehensive outlook of major, trunk oil and gas pipelines industry in the world. The report provides pipeline details such as pipeline/pipeline system name, operator name, start year, start point, end point, status, length, capacity and diameter for all major, trunk crude oil, petroleum products and natural gas pipelines across the world by country and by region.
According to the report, the total length of top 10 planned transmission pipelines in the world is 36,920.0 km. Iran–Iraq–Syria–Lebanon is the longest planned natural gas pipeline in the world. It is expected to have a planned length of 6,000.0 km and a design capacity of 1,424.2 bcf. Further the report also outlines how United States leads by having the longest pipeline network in totality and by individual commodity i.e., Crude Oil, Petroleum products, Natural Gas and Natural gas liquids (NGLs)
The report also provides capital expenditure outlook at global as well as regional level by year and by key countries for planned oil and gas pipelines till 2020. The report also provides key country comparisons within a region and regional comparisons, based on contribution to total pipeline length (regional/global).
