The Key Players in Global Military Vetronics Market 2015-2019

The report recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global military vetronics market: Curtiss-Wright, Kongsberg Gruppen, Rheinmetall, TE Connectivity and Thales Group

Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Elbit Systems, Exelis, General Dynamics Mission Systems, Intracom Defense Electronics, Moog, Pleora Technologies, Textron Systems, Ultra Electronics, WB Electronics and WIN Enterprises

Commenting on the report, an analyst said: “Military land vehicle manufacturers and vetronics system integrators are moving toward Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions for new vehicles as well as vehicle retrofits. COTS solutions help in SWaP reduction and are also more cost-efficient than custom-tailored OEM based products and solutions.COTS solutions are being increasingly used in smart displays for military land vehicles. The software utilized for such systems need to provide seamless integration between different vetronics displays, and should be well-defined for mission-critical applications. Presagis VAPS XT, which employs a COTS HMI tool and an OpenGL interface, is one of the widely used software solutions in different types of displays and touchscreens. In case of need for a change in the display, such systems allow for easier and more cost-effective change of design. A user can reconfigure a single operator station quickly for many different missions. High density COTS I/O solutions also reduce board count, weight, and power consumption, thus enhancing overall system reliability and affordability.”

According to the report, budget cuts and financial strains, the cost pressures on military spending has increased. The cost-efficient operation of military systems receives high priority, and has driven innovation in military vetronics. Cost-per-mile is a way to measure the total cost of ownership of a ground vehicle, including vetronics. Maintenance costs, fuel costs, training costs, and operating costs are also taken into account while considering the total cost per mile. High-end vetronics provide enhanced functionality with reduced SWaP, which makes them suitable for integration in military land vehicles to fulfil the criteria of low cost per mile.

Further, the report states that the engineering challenges related to the design and deployment of SBCs for use in high-end military vetronics systems is a primary concern in the market.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
