Commenting on the report, an analyst from The report’s team said: “Phototherapy is the most common treatment for hyperbilirubinemia in neonates. The technology of phototherapy devices has shifted from fluorescent lamps to LEDs over the past decade, improving the amount of light emitted but on a smaller surface. LED phototherapy systems have become increasingly popular for their intensive irradiance and low maintenance requirements. For instance, the Dräger NanoBlu 500 is a compact, powerful phototherapy unit with five LEDs that emit blue light in the 400-550 nm spectrum for the treatment of hyperbilirubinemia in newborns.”

According to the report, preterm births account for 5%-18% of overall childbirths worldwide. According to a 2014 statistical report by the WHO, every year about 15 million babies are born preterm (37 completed weeks of gestation), of which more than 1 million infants die from premature birth complications. Preterm deaths are a primary cause of concern, affecting children aged below five. Cases of premature births are on the rise in most countries. Preterm infants face short- and long-term complications as their organ systems are immature and not prepared to support life in the extra-uterine environment. Such infants require warmth, breastfeeding support, necessary care for infections and breathing difficulties, life support, and critical care monitoring.

Further, the report states that the flat birth rate, increased infertility, and the use of old neonatal warming equipment hinder market growth in the US.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.
