Summary

Financial intermediation, real estate and business activities contributed 29.2%, followed by other services (23.3%) and wholesale, retail and hotels (15.8%) and mining, manufacturing and utilities (14.8%) to the gross value added (GVA) in 2019, as per GlobalData estimates. All these sectors are expected show slowdown in 2020 due to the economic slowdown risks arising from the COVID-19 outbreak.

The overall AEX index exhibits a heavy fall since February 2020. As of May 28, 2020 AEX index stood at 532.21, compared to 544.19 on May 29, 2019
